Those looking for rural accommodation in the Sierra de Guara find much more at Casa Calvo: a singular proposition that means staying in a restored historic building combining medieval architecture, contemporary comfort and a privileged location in the heart of nature.

Located in the small village of Santa Eulalia la Mayor, a few kilometres from Alquézar, Casa Calvo offers exclusive whole-property accommodation for groups of up to ten people, ideal for family getaways, private gatherings or peaceful stays in the natural park of the Sierra de Guara.

This corner of La Hoya de Huesca has established itself in recent years as one of the most attractive rural tourism destinations in Aragon, especially for those who wish to enjoy nature, historic heritage and local gastronomy.

A historic rural accommodation in the heart of the Sierra de Guara

Casa Calvo is a historic building whose main structure dates back to the 16th century, although documentary records place the origin of the property around the 11th century.

The restoration of the building has preserved its original architectural character, maintaining historic elements such as:

  • A 16th-century wine cellar.
  • A Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Lawrence, built in 1704.
  • Spacious rooms with high ceilings.
  • Period furniture integrated into a contemporary setting.

The property also features approximately 1,100 square metres of open, landscaped outdoor spaces, designed to enjoy the natural surroundings, including an outdoor swimming pool, open-air rest areas, and landscaped areas with views over the Somontano landscape.

A sustainable accommodation open all year round

Recently, the building has incorporated a comprehensive high-efficiency climate control system — including a VRV system, domestic hot water production, ventilation with heat recovery, and independent control in 18 rooms — which maintains a comfortable temperature throughout the four seasons.

The project also integrates photovoltaic self-consumption, reinforcing a more sustainable accommodation model and making Casa Calvo available all year round.

Where to stay near Alquézar and the Sierra de Guara Natural Park

The accommodation’s location allows easy access to some of the most well-known landscapes of the Sierra y Cañones de Guara natural park, famous for its limestone canyons, hiking routes and adventure activities.

From Casa Calvo it is possible to visit the medieval village of Alquézar, the canyons and gorges of the natural park, hiking routes through the Somontano, and historic villages in the area.

Activities and experiences in the Sierra de Guara

The area offers numerous possibilities: canyoning in the gorges of the Sierra de Guara, hiking routes through the natural park, cultural visits to medieval villages, and wine tourism in Somontano wineries.
