Loarre Castle
About 50 minutes by car, this medieval castle is the best preserved in Europe. Its towers and walls provide an ideal setting for children to immerse themselves in stories of knights and princesses. The visit lasts about two hours and guided tours are available.

Alquézar Walkways
A three-kilometre circular route along suspended walkways over the Vero river, with spectacular views. Ideal for families with school-age children. The route takes about two hours; suitable footwear and water are recommended.

Salto de Roldán Viewpoint
30 minutes by car, within the Sierra y Cañones de Guara Natural Park, this viewpoint offers stunning views. It is reached on foot in about 20 minutes from the car park — a perfect short excursion.

Urban walk in Huesca
The city has the Parque Miguel Servet — with playgrounds, ponds and the Snow White cottage — as well as a pedestrian area where you can visit the cathedral and the church of San Pedro el Viejo. Finishing with an ice cream in Plaza López Allúé is a great end to a family afternoon.

Wine tourism in Somontano
30–40 minutes away, this wine region offers guided winery visits with tastings and pairings. Many include a paired lunch and tours of the vineyards.

Scenic drive through the Reino de los Mallos
A route through Loarre and the Mallos de Riglos, with stops at castles and natural viewpoints. The full route takes four to five hours and reveals some of the most iconic landscapes of Huesca.

Canyoning in the Sierra de Guara
Canyon descents such as Vero, Formiga or Mascún, with jumps into natural pools, rock slides and abseils beside waterfalls. Adventure companies offer half-day or full-day trips with guides and equipment included.

Via ferrata and rock climbing
Huesca has several via ferratas, such as the one at Peña San Miguel in Salto de Roldán or those at Riglos. There are also climbing areas at Vadiello and Rodellar for different experience levels.

Hiking in Ordesa National Park
An hour and a half away, the Ordesa valley offers spectacular routes such as the one leading to Cola de Caballo — a 17-kilometre round trip through forests and waterfalls.

Ascent of Tozal de Guara
At 2,077 metres, it is the highest peak in the Sierra de Guara. The classic route starts from Nocito and takes six to seven hours. It is demanding, but the panoramic views from the summit are breathtaking.

Skiing and winter sports
In snow season, the resorts of Astún, Candanchú and Formigal are between one and a half and two hours from Casa Calvo. You can enjoy alpine skiing, snowshoe routes or ice skating in Jaca.
